Meeting Venue Changed to Tim Horton's
Unfortunately, the person who usually opens up West Haven Thursday morning had to go to the hospital late Wednesday night and wasn't available Thursday morning.   Rather than wait outside or cancel the meeting, President Lillian decided we would move the meeting to Tim Horton's, which we did.

The good news is the person at West Haven is doing well and will be back to open up for us next week - which is important as we are holding our Community Mayor's Breakfast next Thursday.

Fortunately, this was a club business meeting so we didn't have a speaker scheduled.

During the meeting we discussed the various projects the Vocational Committee is undertaking, including the Adventures in Citizenship program.  A few days ago we received an email from the Rotary club of Ottawa inviting us to participate in this program in 2016.  Not every Rotary club gets this opportunity - only 220 out of 730+ Canadian clubs.  As you may recall, our 2015 successful recipient, Lila Kloppenburg, spoke at our club on September 24, 2015 (see previous story).  The cheque to reserve our spot was signed today by President Lillian and Treasurer Neil.

The International service committee announced it would support the Medical Mission to Dominican Republic with a donation of $500 from its budget.  This is the mission David Knoppert, our newest member, is going on.  They leave next week.  There is a project blog that is being regularly updated and will be updated daily while the volunteers are in the Dominican Republic.  To keep informed, click on the project blog link located at the top left corner of the home page.
