International World Polio Day is October 24.
The three scarecrows in the photo, representing a family benefiting from the End Polio Now campaign, are sponsored during the October Scarecrow Fest at Parkway Gardens by the Rotary Club of London Hyde Park.

In 1988, Rotary became a partner in the Global Polio Eradication Initiative,  a public-private partnership that includes the World Health Organization, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, UNICEF, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and various world governments.

Along with its partners, Rotary International has helped immunize more than 2.5 billion children against polio in 122 countries.  The number of world wide polio cases has been reduced by 99.9 percent.  Rotary and its partners will not stop until they end the disease for good.
