11th Annual Charitable Golf Tournament a Success
The weather was a little cool and there was some rain in the air but this didn't dampen the spirits or dedication of the 84 golfers who signed up to play the Thames Valley Golf Course on Thursday, August 27, 2015.  The "18 holers" began playing at 12:30pm using a shotgun start while the "9 holers" began at 2:15pm.  All golfers were finished by 4:30 pm and this was followed by a chicken and rib dinner and silent auction. 
 
The 30 bottles of wine raffle draw was won by Judith Dow who had the winning ticket #48.  Congratulations Judith and we hope you enjoy the many varieties of wine with family and friends. 
 
The 30+ silent auction items included items like 2 Blue Jay tickets and rounds of golf for 4 at various golf courses raising over $1,800.
 
While the net proceeds from this tournament are still being calculated the event was very successful from both the financial and level of enjoyment by both participants and volunteers.
 
For those of you who aren't aware of how the proceeds will be used:

  • 50% is going to support Wellspring London and Region, a warm and welcoming facility that offers a variety of supportive care programs, at no cost, for cancer patients and their families. Located inside the Centre Branch of the YMCA, this Centre is part of a network of Wellspring centres that provide emotional, psychological, restorative and educational support programs and services. For the past 16 years, Wellspring London has been serving the needs of people living with cancer in London and surrounding communities. Programs are provided on both a drop-in and registered basis, to individuals and families dealing with any type of cancer and at any stage in their cancer journey'.  For more information on Wellspring visit their website at:  http://wellspring.ca/london-region/

  • The remaining 50% will be used to support the Rotary club of London Hyde Park's various community and international projects.
